⏱ 25 minServes 1025 min prep0

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados, pitted and peeled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 (8 oz) container sour cream, divided
  • 1 (1 oz) packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup chunky red salsa
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 cup pico de gallo
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    1. Mash the avocados with lime juice, garlic, cumin, and salt in a bowl until mostly smooth with some texture; set aside.

  2. 2

    2. Stir taco seasoning into half the sour cream until fully combined; spread the refried beans in an even layer across the bottom of a wide ceramic or glass serving dish.

  3. 3

    3. Layer in this order: seasoned sour cream, guacamole, black beans, shredded cheese, then pico de gallo, pressing each layer gently to the edges so all layers are visible from the side.

  4. 4

    4. Spoon the chunky red salsa evenly over the top as the final visible layer, then top with black olives, green onions, and jalapeño slices.

  5. 5

    5. Fill a piping bag or zip-lock bag with the remaining plain sour cream; pipe concentric circles over the salsa, then drag a toothpick from the center outward at regular intervals to create a spiderweb pattern.

  6. 6

    6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the layers to set; serve with tortilla chips.
