Spiderweb Taco Dip

Seven bold layers topped with a sour cream web that's as dramatic as it is edible.

⏱ 20 minServes 820 min prep0

Ingredients

  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup guacamole, store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup sour cream, divided
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1 cup chunky salsa, drained of excess liquid
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes, seeds removed
  • 1 tbsp lime juice

Steps

  1. 1

    1. Stir cumin and chili powder into the refried beans until well combined, then spread the mixture in an even layer across the bottom of a wide, shallow ceramic serving plate.

  2. 2

    2. Spread the guacamole evenly over the bean layer, then drizzle lime juice over the top to keep it bright.

  3. 3

    3. Stir taco seasoning into three-quarters of the sour cream until smooth, then spread that seasoned layer evenly over the guacamole.

  4. 4

    4. Spoon the drained salsa over the seasoned sour cream layer, then sprinkle cheese, olives, green onions, jalapeño, and diced tomatoes evenly across the top.

  5. 5

    5. Transfer the remaining plain sour cream to a piping bag or zip-lock bag with a small corner snipped off, then pipe concentric circles starting from the center outward.

  6. 6

    6. Drag a toothpick or skewer from the center circle outward in eight evenly spaced lines to create the spiderweb pattern, then serve immediately with tortilla chips.
