A classic Jewish baked noodle casserole with a crispy top and rich, creamy interior.
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and generously butter a 9x13-inch ceramic baking dish. Cook the egg noodles in salted boiling water until just al dente, then drain well.
2. In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sour cream, and cottage cheese until smooth, then whisk in the eggs, melted butter, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
3. Fold the drained noodles into the cream cheese mixture until evenly coated, then pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it level.
4. Dot the top with small pieces of butter and bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until the top is deeply golden brown and the center is just set.
5. Remove from the oven and let the kugel rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
