Ghoulish punch

A smoky, deep crimson party punch with gummy eyeballs, blackberries, and dramatic dry-ice mist.

⏱ 50 minServes 1015 min prep35 min cook

Ingredients

  • 3 cups black cherry juice
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup ginger beer
  • 1/2 cup blackberry liqueur (such as Chambord)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 lemon, sliced into rounds plus one long twisted peel
  • 12 gummy eyeball candies
  • 4 oz dry ice pellets (food-safe)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 whole cloves

Steps

  1. 1

    1. Combine the black cherry juice, cranberry juice, and pomegranate juice in a small saucepan with the cinnamon and cloves; warm over medium heat for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool completely.

  2. 2

    2. Strain out the cloves, then chill the spiced juice in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    3. Pour the chilled spiced juice into a wide glass punch bowl, then stir in the blackberry liqueur and ginger beer gently to preserve fizz.

  4. 4

    4. Float the blackberry slices, lemon rounds, and twisted lemon peel on the surface, then add the gummy eyeballs.

  5. 5

    5. Just before serving, use tongs to carefully lower the dry ice pellets into the bowl — they will sink and create a rolling mist across the surface.

  6. 6

    6. Ladle into glasses immediately, avoiding scooping dry ice directly into cups; replenish dry ice every 20-30 minutes as needed.
