Guacamole Graveyard Dip

Spooky Halloween appetizer with guacamole dressed as a graveyard, complete with chip tombstones and olive ghosts.

⏱ 20 minServes 620 min prep0

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados, halved and pitted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped, plus extra sprigs for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 12 large round tortilla chips
  • 12 pitted black olives

Steps

  1. 1

    1. Scoop avocado flesh into a bowl and mash with a fork to your preferred texture, leaving some chunks for body.

  2. 2

    2. Stir in the lime juice, garlic, red onion, jalapeño, chopped cilantro, salt, and cumin until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning.

  3. 3

    3. Spread the guacamole evenly onto a dark ceramic platter, smoothing the surface to create a flat graveyard base.

  4. 4

    4. Press whole tortilla chips upright into the guacamole at intervals to resemble tombstones, then dust smoked paprika lightly between them to suggest dirt.

  5. 5

    5. Slice each black olive lengthwise and arrange the pieces in small pairs on the guacamole surface to form ghost shapes.

  6. 6

    6. Tuck cilantro sprigs along the edges as grass and nestle halved cherry tomatoes around the border, then serve immediately.
