A deep violet, smoky punch built on grape juice and black tea, served dramatically with dry-ice fog.
1. Combine the grape juice, black tea, cranberry juice, orange juice, elderflower liqueur, and grenadine in a large pitcher and stir well to blend.
2. Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise to the pitcher and refrigerate for at least one hour to let the spices infuse.
3. Strain out the whole spices, then stir in the dissolved butterfly pea flower powder — this deepens the color to a rich violet.
4. Pour the chilled mixture into a large punch bowl, then gently pour in the chilled ginger beer and float the orange slices on top.
5. Just before serving, carefully lower a chunk of food-grade dry ice into the bowl using tongs and insulated gloves — never touch dry ice with bare skin.
6. Ladle into cups once the fog begins to spill over the edges, ensuring no dry-ice pieces enter the cups.
